What Democrats are Made Of
Your actions explain your character. Some people have the ability to hide their character, as you would fool a polygraph test. But when things get to a certain point, people forget what character is.
Ted Kennedy died Tuesday August 25th. Before he died, he and members of the Democrat party tried to reverse legislation, Senator Kennedy himself, established to safeguard against an empty seat being filled by a (then Republican) Massachusetts Governor.
This New York Times article illustrates the fevered pace at which Democrats are trying to pass their legislation.
“…Democrats are in the awkward position of being asked to reverse their own 2004 vote to keep vacant Senate seats empty until a special election.
Until that year, Massachusetts law had called for the governor to appoint a temporary replacement if a Senate seat became vacant. But when Senator John Kerry, a Democrat, was running for president in 2004, the Democratically-controlled State Legislature wanted to deny the Republican governor at the time, Mitt Romney, the power to name a successor if Mr. Kerry won. The resulting law requires a special election 145 to 160 days after the vacancy occurs.”
- Push Grows for Fast Choice on Successor to Kennedy by ABBY GOODNOUGH
The question that is known but never asked is ‘why does good legislation need to be pushed through?’ Shouldn’t laws that are good for everyone be a group effort?
Cap and Trade and HR 3200 are laws that give politicians more control of our lives based on misleading emotional campaign promises. The old Cap and Trade promise is ‘we can control the weather on our planet.’ The old Socialized Medicine promise is ‘the US Government is capable of providing us with adequate health care.’ Some believe these claims without any proof and others believe proof that is fatally flawed.
To prove my point, Sarah Palin didn’t speak out against abortion, only that states should decide.
Q: If Roe v. Wade were overturned and states could once again prohibit abortion, in your view, to what extent should abortion be prohibited in Alaska?
A: Under this hypothetical scenario, it would not be up to the governor to unilaterally ban anything. It would be up to the people of Alaska to discuss and decide how we would like our society to reflect our values.
Yet, she was vilified for keeping women from their ‘right to choose!’ NOT TRUE! She is Pro-Life and believed ‘in the end’ the people had the right to make that decision, not one court. Like the way handled abortion in England!
It’s not wrong to pick the best parts of a plan to make a really good plan. But when you make rules, they should apply to everyone involved. Democrats don’t live by the rules they themselves establish.
What are Democrats made of!?
I Do Not Choose to Be a Common Man
I Do Not Choose to Be a Common Man
by Dean Alfange
It is my right to be uncommon—if I can.
I seek opportunity—not security. I do not wish to be a kept
citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after
me.
I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to
fail and to succeed.
I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the
challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of
fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia.
I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for
a handout. I will never cower before any master nor bend
to any threat.
It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to
think and act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations
and to face the world boldly and say, “This I have done.”
You cannot take care of yourself, by waiting for a government to take care of you! Because one person or entity cannot address all of your needs. Why, then, would you allow the poor and needy to be cared for by such an inadequate fate!
What Company will Obama Pick for the Public Option?
He bought GM. He’s controlling the salaries of executives ‘making too much.’ The Government doesn’t know enough about insurance to sell the plan much less to cover medical procedures. Some company is going to have to run the program. Obama seems to be making some profitable deals with some big companies. So which company is he going to pick to run his public option.
AIG was bailed out and is too big to fail. Maybe, them. Whoever it is; they will pay the Obama Administration a lot of lobbying money to get the bid for the life of the country. The company will get a constant flow of tax money, forever. This will make Haliburton look like a mom and pop store going up against WalMart. But that’s what Obama voters wanted, a one company monopoly of the health care industry!
I’m sure he will pick a loyal company, based on money!
Obama Administration: Insulting American Character for 7 Months!
Do you see Americans as needy? Do you want Americans to be needy? The Obama Administration wants you…NEEDY! My President is supposed to help us, not make us helpless. He’s still my President, right!?
‘Never allow a crisis to go to waste,” White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel told the New York Times right after the election. “They are opportunities to do big things.”‘ Obama’s fear-mongering By Jonah Goldberg LA Times
We have an administration causing more problems, so they can look like they are the answer. A TARP bill that hasn’t done anything for Americans. Cap and Trade will put a cap on trade. HR 3200 is a money pit without a focus on the end product, health. They are creating problems they don’t know how to fix. Or maybe they just want more problems. (side note a Google search for HR 3200, did not include drop-down options for any legislation)
The real hero here - the American public! When we put our prayers, hearts and minds into problems they get solved. The solution to our economy, the American Public! The solution to everyone receiving health care, the American Public! The solution to a clean America, the American Public! The solution to new technology, the American Public!
The Obama Administration has been treating American’s like children. Some people enjoy that! Messing up their lives as much as possible, then crying to Daddy, when things get too tough! But most Americans want the freedom to be their best! And Freedom doesn’t come from Government! It comes without Government!
I agree with Professor Heidelberger!
No! Not that Barney Frank is my hero! Apparently, idolizing a man who treats men with as little respect as a pimp treats his ladies, is the Professors idea of a hero! Which, I guess, reflects on his understanding of government run health care. Pick what you like, and ignore the string that it’s attached to!
It’s his last line of the article I am agreeing with - “…(Dems) tell the truth.” caheidelberger
EDIT: And to address Obama taxing us into Oblivion. Where is $10 Trillion(+++) going to come from after the RICH leave, because they are becoming POOR?
DAKOTAFEST: Don’t Talk about Health Care!
What do we have on the agenda for Thune and Herseth-Sandlin at Dakotafest? Bio-fuels, Farm Bill Implementation, Disaster Program & Energy Legislation Updates. Those farmers better not talk about Health Care! Unless they want FREE Health Care…then whooHoo!
Farmers have gone for government subsidies in the past. They take what help they get for two reasons. 1. They take their work home at night. 2. Their home was their Grandparents home and they hope it will be their grandchildrens home. But HR 3200 is a gamble for them and every American. It isn’t finished. And like the Bailouts this past year, people see that Health Care shouldn’t be just good enough to pass!
Town halls go well when concerns are discussed. An example of a good town hall Q&A: ‘Criticism: I don’t want government to control my health care options! Response: Well, I believe this plan will do this…how do you want to solve the problems we have with health care?” BUT what do we hear on the news!? We hear the questions without the discussion. If you are presenting a plan to a group, you should know more about the plan than the group. And if you can’t do that, you can at least placate to them and ask them for ideas. Unless you know the ideas won’t be used!
Let’s hope this meeting is constructive.
When are they meeting today, well lets just look in the Argus Leader. Or how about Dakotafests website.
Oh look Sen Tim Johnson’s going to…oh he was (invited.) I guess he’s wearing the DNC’s cloak of invisibility.
Professor Heidelberger can’t get It!
I don’t know who’s pulling his strings, but as I’m not welcome over there, I’ll comment here. His Germany comparison is like comparing chokecherries to watermelons! But that doesn’t bother the ‘cure to private education’, because the Germans live longer. The statistics that Professor Heidelberger doesn’t take into account is the growth rate of the American population, both legal and illegal. The economy. The government. The society. The geography. Throw a good article at the professor and he’ll eat it up! He should play Risk, he might learn something.
Here’s the big one - Rationing! …The current rationing system of the insurance companies will not keep the Hospitals from taking you, if you are really sick! They kinda see it as a win-win situation…they save a life and if they brag about it, those people who pay for their insurance, will want to use their services. Obamacare doesn’t work on that premise. Limited funds = Limited care! What else do you call Obamas strategy handing out pain pills instead of a pacemakers!
I’m sorry! The Professor seems to want to live in a world of Whimpys’ opposed to Popeyes’! (I hate making Popeye comparisons, but Whimpy is the best example of the welfare system)
Are We the UNITED States of America, or Not!?
Will you create a law that you are exempt from following? For example, Stealing - will you create a law that gives jail time to everyone that steals, except for the writer of the bill!? I hope not.
So….
I see good will out there. I do. Everyone wants a clean planet. Everyone wants healthy citizens. Everyone wants their parents taken care of when they get old. I know I do AND every conservative colleague, I know, does also! Americans can solve these problems by working together! But why do United States politicians create laws that don’t include themselves!?
When do they say ‘Well I don’t like THAT part so this bill won’t apply to me.’ If this happens long enough which laws could apply to them!?
It’s just a thought. I hope you think about it!
New-speak of the Day - ‘Most People/Republicans like HR 3200′
New-speak is an Orwellian term used to describe how ‘Big Brother’ could control the masses through the lack of critical thought. It also removed words so thought was reduced to positive sounds which produced positive thought. So in an effort to portray the Winston Smith character before I am mandated to use the word ‘goodest’, I present the Newspeak of the Day!
(where as ‘Big Brother’ was aiming for fewer words, this kinda does the same thing with MORE words)
Press Secretary Robert Gibbs commenting on Palin’s “death panel” remark - “I think we’d all be served better if the coverage of that was less about the personality of the former governor and more about the fact that even Republicans think what she said isn’t true,” Gibbs said.” - ‘Palin vs. Gibbs: A press secretary’s nightmare’ - By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star . Gibbs is the last person who knows what Republicans think, much less conservatives.
Supporters didn’t get there early enough - “Many of the union members who showed up to support health care reform did not arrive early enough to get into the auditorium at the Harrisburg Area Community College, and thus were largely not represented among the 30 questioners called on by Mr. Specter. It was the angriest people who got in line first.” - Senator Goes Face to Face With Dissent - By Ian Urbina and Katharine Q. Seelye, The New York Times . Why would these angry people care about how their health care was handled - especially by an organization mired in failure, like the Medicare and TARP legislation.
The majority of the people don’t like the way the Democrat controlled Administration and Congress is pushing these half-baked bills containing half the ‘promise’ and 200% of your daily allowance of government intervention.
Every single person I talk to sees that bills are being rammed through the process, without being thoughtfully considered and debated. That is why there are ANGRY MOBS out there. Sarah Palin read the part where government committees will counsel the elderly on hospice programs(a government spending as little time on writing and discussing a health care bill, such as this one, will spend less time on the parts that are contained in that bill.) That’s why she uses the term ‘death panel’.
Everyone doesn’t like HR 3200, even democrats and liberals! If more representatives would have Town hall meetings, it might be more apparent.
Economy…What Economy?
Cautiously Optimistic means - We have no hope here, but now is no time to panic!
When business’ cut back on their staff as much as possible. The rate of unemployment will stop getting worse, everyone knows that. But when business’ start to close because they can’t turn a profit any longer, then unemployment will rise again.
Governmental agencies can’t absorb the unemployed masses with job creation. But then more people will be dependant on the government for a handout!
Welfare, Unemployment, Medicare, Social Security…do these plans seem like a fix for a broken economy?
