Obama Gambles on Chicago Olympic Bid with the United States.

Posted By Guy Smylie | October 2, 2009

Does Obama know he’s President of the United States? If he does, why is he pushing for his home town getting the Olympics over his Presidential duties!? Well, Chicago’s out..

‘Despite historically unprecedented efforts by President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, to encourage the International Olympic Committee meeting in Copenhagen to accept Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Games, the I.O.C. eliminated Chicago in the first round of voting today.’ Do Olympic Host Cities Ever Win? By The Editors - The New York Times

President Obama has wasted time for personal reasons. And I’m not the only one saying this. England sure likes to control their climate. And apparently they can’t do that without the help of Obama.

‘Some things are just worth fighting for — like the chance to host an Olympics. And some apparently are not — like assuring the fate of the entire planet.

Michelle Obama says the president was ready to “drop everything” and make a big “sacrifice” to be in Copenhagen today for a “take no prisoners” campaign for Chicago’s Olympic bid.Not that any further proof was needed that this was a really important moment, but just in case: Oprah Winfrey, a fellow Chicagoan, also made the trip to Copenhagen with the Obamas.’ - Obama’s Olympic trip to Copenhagen knocks climate talks off the podium Posted by Suzanne Goldenberg, US environment correspondent Friday 2 October 2009 16.03 BST

President Barack Obama would not say whether he thinks the war requires more troops, and said he is reviewing whether the United States is pursuing the right strategy to defeat al-Qaida’ Afghan war commander submits troop request By Pauline Jelinek and Anne Gearan The Associated Press via Google News

So, today he’s not only lost his precious Olympic bid but also time  to secure the country he was elected / and swore to protect! Obama is turning out just like we thought.

He left last evening and is back this morning. Most of that time is on Air Force One where he can WORK, if not sleeping. Let’s imagine if Houston was going for it in Bush’s time. Would you be critical of the President joining the pitch? Of course you wouldn’t. This is why you are so transparent, so disingenuous, so full of lies.

The other leaders were there. If he didn’t go your type would complain that he does not support the US. Fact is Chicago was not going to get it. South America has never had it, Atlanta was not organized or presented well, Lake Placid bribed to get it and GW Bush has tarnished your country internationally. It was a tough road.

The New Your Times, like FOX and like the Republican party are lie machines. The fact is, in the year 2009, a countries leader is expected there, What is unprecedented is to not show up. But facts never matter to you people.

You really don’t know what you’re talking about. If you are unaware of the truth, you can’t really call liar can you. Stop acting like a baby.

Okay smart one, you can’t just say I don’t know anything. What specifically is not accurate? Time he was gone? Nope, that was true. Other leaders were there, yup. Just heard a panel discussion on one network where they laid it out that national leaders are expected to show up for these things these days. All agreed. But I suppose you know more than all of them (or anyone in the world) or you listen to Rush. Wonder what it is, hmm. Just what is wrong with my comments God Guy, lets hear it, instead of your BS. Come on, pick each sentence I wrote apart if you can.

Usually I would feel badly for the mentally retarded, but you are exceptional. You are the one who is making no sense. You go ahead and cheer on the failure of whatever Obama does. If it’s for a good thing like bringing a prestigious event to the country, you go a head and cheer on the failure of your country and one of it’s major cities. You go ahead you utter nut job.

Now go ahead and spout some words that have no relationship whatsoever to this post here of mine. Go ahead and do it again and prove you have no intellect. Be my guest, you never acknowledge any one else’s points, if you could, it’s called conversion or debate. You don’t do that. You are a pathetic blogger and poster.

And finally, you are the baby, na na na Liar, liar, your pant’s are on fire. Goof.

From The Weekly Standard, Americans For Prosperity to our political blogs it seems that there is a misplaced sense of allegiance. I wish America would have gotten the Olympics. I may not agree with Obama, but I am still cheering for America and I question patriotism and am embarrassed of those that feel this is a partisan issue.

On this very topic Joe Scarborough says:

Count me as one conservative who is disappointed that President Obama’s hometown will not be hosting the 2016 Olympic Games.
Chicago is a beautiful city that would have made a perfect backdrop for the Olympics. The President was right to fly to Copenhagen to try to land the games, not for the sake of his city, but for the good of his country. The fact President Obama failed makes me respect him more for taking the chance, and the fact many right-wing figures opposed the President’s mission shows just how narrow-minded partisanship makes us all.
For the better part of 20 years, a bitterness has infected our politics that has weakened our country.
We Republicans spent eight years trying to delegitimize Bill Clinton.
Democrats spent the next eight years doing the same to George W. Bush.
Now that a Democrat is in the Oval Office again, it is the GOP who is trying to delegitimize a sitting president.
When I try to talk to Republicans about the need to break this cycle of viciousness, some cite the chapter and verse of every hateful left wing attack against George W. Bush.
Whenever I attempt to have a conversation with some Democrats about the need for us respect our president– whether he be an Obama or a Bush– I am told that Bush deserved whatever he got because he was a lying war criminal who hated the Constitution and loved torturing
    people.
Fortunately, there are a growing number of Americans who believe we cannot continue going on this way.
You and I may disagree on how the CIA handled terror suspects. But that does not mean that you are soft on terrorism anymore than it means that I hate the Constitution.
You and I may have a different approach to Afghanistan. But just because you want to stay there another five years doesn’t mean you are an imperialist. And if I believe a decade in that forsaken land is more than enough, that doesn’t mean I’m soft on al Qaeda or the Taliban.
It just means that we view the world differently.
That creative tension–that intense give and take–has been what has kept America strong since Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton fought like hell in George Washington’s White House.
Hamilton wanted a strong centralized government while Jefferson believed that the government that governed least governed best.
Both men were frustrated by the checks and balances that stood in the way of their agendas, but that debate shaped America for years to come.
But something has gone terribly wrong.
Today on Morning Joe, NBC News Legend Tom Brokaw remarked to Pat Buchanan about how the level of partisanship is even more intense today than during the depths of the Watergate crisis. Brokaw was commenting on Congressman Grayson’s comments, but he could have easily
been talking about Joe Wilson or death panels or the bizarre claim that the President “hates all white people.”
Some of the rhetoric is dangerous. But what we saw from some conservative corners regarding the President’s failed Olympics bid was just plain stupid.
I’m happy for Rio and think it is past time that South America got a chance to host the Olympic Games. But put me down as one conservative who is glad my president flew across the ocean to try to bring the 2016 Games to America.
Nice try, President Obama. And thanks for taking time away from your young girls for the sake of your hometown and your country, Michelle. I know that’s never an easy thing to do.

Joe is the kind of guy that is big enough to see reality instead of this being against everyhting like the nut jobs are. Nut.

Here’s what you people have rooted against so far:

Bill Clinton freeing American journalists from North Korea
Marines rescuing Americans from Somali pirates
    Rescuing American automobile manufacturers
    Health care for all Americans
An American city hosting the Olympics

Can I call you anti-American yet? I think so.
You are that or racist, take your pick.

Right on Bro..It becomes clearer everyday that this President is in way over his head. His lack of executive skills and experience, inability to prioritize, poor advisory choices and his blatant lying brought about by his huge, inflated ego are a prescription for disaster for the US before he leaves office. He is a far greater international embarrassment than Bush or even Carter was.

  8. Guy Smylie Says:
    October 7th, 2009 at 7:29 am

Hans, The Olympics should be behind our National Security, the safety of our Soldiers and the spread of Terrorism. Making this more than a business move is insulting.

shakey jake, Those with common sense are plentiful in America!

  9. Popalot Says:
    October 7th, 2009 at 11:28 am

The Olympics and going for them has nothing to do with good national security. That’s like saying Chicago, in going for them, is against national security and is in favor of terrorists. You make such cognizant points ; )

“He is a far greater international embarrassment than Bush or even Carter was.”

America was just named the “Most Admired Country”. Number one.
It came from 7th place. The polling guy says there has never been a seven place movement, it’s unprecedented. The only thing he said it could be was that Obama became President. So again you people just spew opinion, I got facts. Obama is no embarrassment to the country, you are.

  10. Guy Smylie Says:
    October 7th, 2009 at 12:27 pm

You just spewed opinions, as fact. Wow, Popalot, you might not see how foolish you are but you sure show it!

  11. Popalot Says:
    October 7th, 2009 at 4:00 pm

Gee you can’t even celebrate your win in being the most admired country in the world, you anti-American Obama hater. I know, Obama got that for you and you hate anything that one touches.

Now you just repeat my criticism of you, and as usual with no relation to my posting. Your brain just seizes up when confronted with FACTS, you useless garbage mouth.

  12. Guy Smylie Says:

I don’t function on the approval of others. I function on principles.
    That’s what principles are for!

  13. Popalot Says:

Yup, don’t give a damn about anybody else, self centered and insular, a true right winger.

You wallow in ignorance don’t you.

  15. Popalot Says:
    October 9th, 2009 at 11:30 am

You say nothing just to get the last word in. No salient valid arguments. Those that blindly follow “principles” end up supporting a healthcare system that kills Americans and rips them off. You are too stupid to acknowledge it. Now go write your unoriginal piece on Obama’s Nobel Prize and go all in with Hamas and the Taliban. That’s your kind of company.

  16. Guy Smylie Says:
    October 9th, 2009 at 12:44 pm

    I blindly follow principles.
I’ve already written Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize article.

  17. Popalot Says:
    October 9th, 2009 at 1:57 pm

Blindly follow is the definition of stupid.
    You are terribly predictable.
Unlike my comment about Obama and the Nobel Prize (he does not deserve it).

  18. Guy Smylie Says:
    October 9th, 2009 at 3:58 pm

Stupid is making poor decisions and failing to learn from them.
Blindly follow is why you voted for him.

Your comment on Obama shows how absurd the award is, because everyone knows it’s a joke. Obama being flattered shows how arrogant he is.

  19. Popalot Says:
    October 9th, 2009 at 9:35 pm

Failing to learn? Like voting for Bush twice? You guys voted him in because 9/11 happened. He then did what Bin laden wanted. US troops over there, bankrupting the country.

You don’t even remember where I’m from, dope.

Leaders of other countries say it’s a thank you for bringing back America to the world community. The real reason why Obama got the Prize is because Bush was so incredibly bad.
