“You Lie!” - A Shot Heard ‘Round the Room
About Time! It’s a shame Representative Joe Wilson R-SC was right, but I think the Republicans are acting like Representatives for once! It’s a real shot in the arm. Here’s what went down.
The incident came directly after Obama said, “There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.”
“You lie!” Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., shouted from his seat on the Republican side of the chamber.
- Fox News
Did you see Pelosi and Biden? Pelosi actually had a ‘conniption fit’ . She actually twitched. Biden was visually moved and changed his focus from the camera’s to Representative Wilson.
I think there were better points before this one to use this technique on. But he actually did it! Good for Rep. Joe Wilson R-SC.
If you believe President Obama will probably cover Illegal Immigrants if the Health Care bill is signed. write him and tell him, ‘You did your job as a Representative!’
Here’s his info…

So you’re okay with showing disrespect for the President of the United States? Or are you just a hypocrite who likes disrespect when it’s against a President you disagree with? Personally, I think what Rep. Wilson did was wrong and he rightly appologized for it. I also think it would be wrong for any Democrat to disrupt a Republican President’s speech.
Plus, Wilson was wrong. President Obama was correct that this reform won’t insure illegal immigrants. Fact check organizations verified that to be true. So it was Wilson who lied and made himself look like a fool.

Obama is a President who is lying! Fact check what? Something not written yet doesn’t say something specific. These are the points we need to PROVE! You are either not interested in the truth or you are trying to keep me from the basic premise that Obama has stayed true to - certain people deserve benefits and certain people don’t.
Don’t be so confident about what category you fall into!

Wilson was correct. He probably should not have shouted it out, and he did apologize. But he was correct; Obama was lying.
There is nothing in the bill that makes anyone prove citizenship to obtain services. So an illegal would be able to obtain services.
But, I guess in reality Obama is being truthful when he says no illegals will be covered. The plan is not to be implemented until 2013, and Obama plans to make all the illegals legal well before this plan would be implemented, so the question is moot and actually Obama is correct; it will not cover illegals because they would then be legal.
See how well DC political double-speak works!

Oh come on, Guy. It is in everyone’s interest that we hold on to some shred of civility in politics. If we don’t, political discourse will devolve down into fish fights (though that would be entertaining). No matter if you agree or disagree with the President, shouts and disruptions like this are a bad thing for this country.
Here’s a link for you:

Currently illegal immigrants have access to emergency rooms and they can buy private insurance. That will not chance. But they won’t get any benifit from these health reform proposals. The House bill specifically says illegal immigrants won’t be eligable for tax credits.

Yeah! So we’re supposed to remove all reason and accountability when dealing with Obama? The point is he was deceiving the American public. Telling someone something that is not the facts as described is a lie.
I wish he would have called him out on the other lies, like ‘no death panels,’ ‘you can keep your insurance,’ or ‘we know what we’re doing.’ They are all ‘yea, but’ lies. Yea, it’s true but not how you presented it.
It’s a real sickness that has to be regulated! lol

The devils in the details, Haggs. Do you care, to understand this issue!? It’s not like we’re talking about ‘what day National Ronald Reagan Day should be.’
September 10th, 2009 at 9:47 am
I’m not saying you can’t disagree with the President. I’m just saying you need to have some common human decency to be civil in that disagreement. But I’m getting the impression that you’re not interested in civility.

H-e i-s n-o-t l-i-s-t-e-n-i-n-g t-o o-u-r v-o-i-c-e-s! (he is not listening to our voices!)
That is why there are people yelling at the town meetings! Have you seen Thunes Health Care plan? There are tons of them out there, he doesn’t read them (OR his for that matter)!

Joe Wilson from South Carolina, is just another good old boy where in the morning these married men preach to you that there should be prayer in our schools and in the evening they are on their cell phones setting up a date with their other women on the side, hypocrisy has been bred in. I am not surprised that he felt compel to yell like he was at some Friday night game. He is a hater not a debater like most of his side of the isle.

I’m sure your neighbor the wife-beater is nothing like you. Just as I’m sure Obama is not the best of Black America!
If you want to be credible, stereotypes don’t really work.
Try again.

So let me get this straight, you think that in future a LAW will legally be passed, pass both houses and signed by the President that makes illegals, legal. And… Assuming that near impossible feat is done, you don’t want them eligible for programs available to “real” Americans. And this is why Joe is correct and the President is lying, despite the legislation saying no benefits will go to Illegals. I come here just to check in on your condition Smylie, I worry about you. No change, crazy as ever.
Republican health care plans would guarantee the health of Insurance companies over Americans. Not worth taking seriously.
September 10th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
The illegals in this country have been made legal to deal with immigration, before! Read your history. They illegally enter the country, do not go through the proper channels and are still made citizens by default. The problem with this is the cost of the plan is greater than even Obama is aware of yet he still claims ‘it won’t cost one dime.’
He lies, man. He lies.
‘Republican health care plans would guarantee the health of Insurance companies over Americans.’ - Popalot
I’m sure you’d be able to wrangle up how any Republican plan is going to benefit the insurance companies over Americans…because that sounds an awful lot like those Obama scare tactics he was talking about! (Not the ones he accused Republicans of using, but the ones he was using in his speech)
