Are We the UNITED States of America, or Not!?

Posted By Guy Smylie | August 14, 2009

Will you create a law that you are exempt from following? For example, Stealing - will you create a law that gives jail time to everyone that steals, except for the writer of the bill!? I hope not.

So….

I see good will out there. I do. Everyone wants a clean planet. Everyone wants healthy citizens. Everyone wants their parents taken care of when they get old. I know I do AND every conservative colleague, I know, does also! Americans can solve these problems by working together! But why do United States politicians create laws that don’t include themselves!?

When do they say ‘Well I don’t like THAT part so this bill won’t apply to me.’ If this happens long enough which laws could apply to them!?

It’s just a thought. I hope you think about it!

I’m thinking about it and I do not like it at all. There is much talk today of fairness and equality, but I’m thinking that good old-fashioned justice is getting short shrift.

How about equal justice under the law? The only way that one can have that is to ensure that there are no exceptions to the law based on class, ethnicity, etc.

It seems the class and ethnicity predjudices have gone from one extreme to the other instead of a search for equality.
A great example would be these town-hall meetings have ‘lunatics’ spouting ‘mis-information’ instead of ‘constituents’ bringing their ‘concerns.’

Another thought - would it matter if they just listened to us and then did what they wanted? Compared to saying one thing in the bill.

One would hope that a certain number of them would be so constrained by conscience (I know, I’m assuming they have such an outdated thing) that they would vote in accordance with the new information which their constituents have brought to their attention, rather than continuing to place party (in so many cases) above principle.

Their conscience is being guided by keeping their jobs and money. To help them sleep at night they justify it by assuming everyone will have health care, even if the quality is less than what they need.
