Obama - US Constitution Just Doesn’t Do It for Him!

Posted By Guy Smylie | October 27, 2008

The phrase Obama uses to describe the US Constitution - ‘the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties’, which he believes the Warren Court didn’t fix like it should have.

I didn’t really doubt the information, but when you can get Obama to say it himself, why not warn people!?

I predict if he’s elected he won’t use these words in the oath of office - “and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”.

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Take some time off and go do something fun. That’s what I’ve been up to and never been happier. I think you spend way too much time worrying about Obama.

That’s usually what’s said right before a dictatorship takes over. ‘Just let go, you can’t make a difference!’

In your dreams, fella! I’m just starting!

And Government doesn’t make me sad/happy. But it can make me free!

    Guy,

You have your view of Obama and you are certainly entitled to that view. So, keep blogging what you believe. My concern is how we, as a nation, are going to seriously tackle the major issues facing us today and whether we agree or disagree we will have to come together at some point and work out meaningful solutions. That’s how it has always worked in a democratic republic. I just think you sometimes lose sight of the important issues by focusing too much on the character attacks. Regardless of my views or your views, how are Republicans going to work with Barack Obama should he be elected our next President, along with a much larger Democratic-controlled Congress?

You are assuming a lot, with our electorial college we cannot be considered a democratic republic, Obama has not won yet(just so you don’t get crazy, if he loses) and the Democrats haven’t secured their majority yet(same as above). When the Republicans were in control, Democrats did their best to stall Republican issues. Judges, for example.
I don’t see a candidates, working history as ‘character attacks’. Can you explain to me where I am wrong on this? Show me any of his work as a Professor or working organizing ACORN fnctions.

Well, I admit that I’m confident in my candidate winning this election (although, there is always a possiblity one can be wrong). With that said, I’ve been quite level-headed throughout this election. When you mention “going crazy,” I have not been the one going around pushing these character attacks and questioning whether one is “Pro-American” or “Anti-American.” I refuse to let pessimism to take me over and I refuse to sink myself to a level of accusing other people of being things because of their “associations.” I do know this from watching many campaigns in my lifetime and the winnning ones didn’t involve name calling, hurling personal insults, sending out erratic and confusing messages, easily distracted, blaming others for one’s own mistakes (media, other candidates, etc.)…I think you get the point. We will wait and see who wins. I remain confident that Barack Obama (staying focused on the economy) can win.

You mean like President George W. Bush?
You must not know the definition of hypocrite.

This economic crisis is about giving unqualified citizens and non-citizens loans they weren’t able to pay back. This was pushed by democrat principles which give everyone a hand out, without predjudice. The problem is it doesn’t work. Obama is pushing these same principles. So, Obama claiming to have an answer here, is a lie if he knows his economics. Maybe he doesn’t.
