Tony Dean Outed?

Posted By Guy Smylie | August 26, 2008

In a liberal online publication, Tony Dean gets interviewed. The Nation’s, a non-biased publication by it’s own admission, writer Katha Pollitt writes about the political discord in the Democrat Party - P.U.M.A.(party unity my a**). In this article she runs into a charming deep-voiced South Dakotan, who she refers to as ‘Tony Dean of Sportsmen for Obama.’ Wow, I thought he was a RiNO(crossed out) I mean Republican.

She goes on to write…

Dean is short, white-haired, rotund and he has one of the great old radio voices– rich, warm, genial, friendly–which is not surprising, because he is a radio announcer, formerly of stock-car and Nascar racing, more recently of Dakota Back Roads, a popular and much-honored show about fishing and hunting.

“I used to be a conservative Republican,” he begins, and swiftly moves on his support for South Dakota Sen. Tim Johnson, his father’s love of quail hunting and his mother’s passion for fishing (every Saturday and Sunday!), and his long and interesting life in radio. I’m not sure where all this is going, but I could listen to him all day. And sure enough, there’s a point: “This is the most important election of my lifetime. I’m not sure fish and wildlife can survive eight more years of George Bush.” Dean talks about the ongoing destruction of the regulatory system that protects forests and water: “There’s a clear connection between fishing and clean water.”

Tony the waters are the cleanest they’ve been in decades. Are you lobbying for environmental groups. I would like to know. Tony talks Republican values and he speaks at Democrat conventions for Democrats. I guess if Tony isn’t a RiNO or a P.U.M.A.? Then I don’t know what he is.

It’s time to judge actions for what they are. Because it seems like RiNO’s end up knifing you in the back.

“knifing you in the back”? Dean isn’t the one knifing true conservatives in the back by increasing federal power and spending (Patriot Act, NCLB) and financing a war of aggression with tax cuts (props to the GOP’s Jim Leach). Try focusing on the real threat to conservative values: Bush, McCain, et al.

If the world was as simple as you THINK, I would be a Democrat, Too!
Professor, what are conservative values to YOU?

Anybody can say they are a Republican…and many who aren’t, do. The Tony may be registered as a Republican, but, as your title states, he’s “out” there. He has never been a Conservative. In that regard he is a true fraud.
“Sports duds for Obama??” “I’m not sure fish and wildlife can survive eight more years of George Bush.” This is the stuff you hear from such loonytoons as Ted Danson (the oceans will be dead in 10 years) or Jimmy Carter( we have only 10 years of oil left) or Tony’s diety Algore (We only have 10 years left before the Earth cooks). It’s sad to watch. I don’t know who deserves more pity, the Tony or Tim Johnson.

Looks like Tony Dean will leave the role of a RINO and switch to Democrat.

Which is just where he belongs. Maybe his “persona” could help his fellow travelers to levitate the Denver Mint.
