Taxing the Rich is Kicking our Butts!

The Associated Press has finally got it straight. Taxing the rich (yes, Big Oil too) is making the less wealthy - less wealthy. But the fault still lies with the rich.

OK, the AP doesn’t mention taxes, but when the rich are paying 40% of all taxes going to the government - you can’t ignore that paying additional taxes will decrease their wealth.

In the article the writer shows the clear difference between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’…

For most Americans, the choice has been whether to give up small indulgences, such as eating out or going to the movies, to help defray the rising cost of food and fuel.

For the wealthy, the choices have been different.

“People are examining, ‘Do you keep the yacht, do you go to the classic car auction, do you take the private jet?’” said Joseph Montgomery, managing director of investments at Wachovia Securities. “Those sound like nice problems to have, but at the same time, they are issues.”

…how BIG are your toys. Doesn’t it cost more money to fill up a 20 gallon tank than a 12 gallon tank of gas? When most people spend more than they make, how many zeros you’re dealing wih doesn’t matter.

But here’s the Focal Point of the story the rich are gettin’ stingy! Instead of spending all of their money they want to keep it. They don’t have the money to spend on luxury items anymore. Then the small business owners aren’t able to pay for their employees. And the unemployment rate goes up…highest in four(4) years!

My sarcasm doesn’t stem from the unemployed, it comes from Bush and some representatives have been saying this for years. Heck, JFK was even a proponent of reducing the taxes on the rich to increase tax income. The SAD part is that the article doesn’t really say Taxes are kicking our butts. The writer explains that when it’s all said and done all the wealthy want to do is keep their money away from you. And that’s just not how it works.

My opinion is that the rich don’t know me well enough to keep their money away from me.  They would rather have it to spend!
