In this time of Political Discord - E PLURIBUS UNUM
‘Out of Many, One’ For all of the opposition I am giving to Senator Tim Johnson and soon Representative Stephanie Herseth, E PLURIBUS UNUM is an issue that needs to be addressed. I have been taught and I believe that everyone must respect the officials God has placed in our government, that includes the opposition. This does not mean one can’t disagree with them and try to promote a better run government.
E PLURIBUS UNUM was first used on United States coins in 1795. The roots of the phrase are in the development of a seal for the United States. And the History of using the phrase is fascinating! Check out Benjamin Franklin’s design. I don’t believe we should overthrow governments, but I do believe we should help our fellow man. What do you do when see someone in trouble; do you watch or do you act?
E PLURIBUS UNUM was established to show the unity of our States to the nations of the world. Patriotism has been debased to mean dissent. How can dissent mean anything when it isn’t backed up by facts? It is not dissent that IS patriotism! The dissent of patiotism depends on what you’re speaking out against!
Patriotism and dissent in the United States must be, above all, for freedom and against tyranny. Then when freedom is secured for ALL, we can be as one!
Oh, BTW, freedom has in it the right to fail. So, freedom has nothing to do with equality. It’s just about opportunity. Another good topic.

Today’s Left has attempted to redefine patriotism as whatever they are doing to tear down our country. They may have fooled a handful, but I don’t think they’ve fooled many.
People have always disagreed on how to run our country, all the way back to the Continental Congress. But until relatively recently, all sides recognized that the welfare of the country came first, and our first and only loyalty was to right and to our country, not what some corrupt thugs around the world thought.
As to the motto of E Pluribus Unum, we have lost our commitment to become “out of many, one” and are instead fixated on our own petty desires and have become “out of one, many.”
A team that refuses to overcome differences and make the good of the team the first priority is a team headed for losses.

“How can dissent mean anything when it isn’t backed up by facts?” Sounds like a good description of the vague ramblings you guys post here.

What “facts” have you found over at Madville, Professor?

I’m just saying a lot of the stuff I peruse here as the sounds like it’s off the top of the head, “I wish I were Rush Limbaugh” speech practice, rather than analysis of actual news or connection to any specific issues… just like this post. Blah blah blah.
And /sarcasm tag/ oh, you are such paragons of overcoming political discord /end sarcasm tag/. Pot, meet kettle.

Maybe your idea of actual news is skewed. I know this is a reach, but I challenge you to listen to Rush Limbaugh for one(1) week. Give him a chance by considering that he might actually want the best for the country by encouraging individuals to be their best.
I’m not going for the issue of the day, Professor. I’m ecouraging people to think productively.
