Adelstein’s Cupcake Crock
From the Wingnut e-Newsletter:
A report from Monday’s lunch, 11 Wingnuts arrived to partake of a great lunch and of course we all visited about the deplorable actions of the adelstein meltdown last week when he literally blew up and screamed and ranted at Elli Schwiesow for showing up to the Grand Opening of the SOUTH DAKOTA REPUBLICAN STATE PARTY’S VICTORY OFFICE.
Mr. adelstein threw a fit and told Elli she was not welcomed, that he owned the building, it was his food, and he was the host and told her to take her cupcakes she had graciously brought and to leave. Common decency should have prevailed since this was an Open House, and Elli is still registered as a Republican and has been involved and has been a mainstay in our party statewide for over 15 years.
Elli did leave the building and was shaken by adelstein’s venomous attack, even though she was invited to attend the Grand Opening by the state party’s executive director when she attended the Republican Women’s lunch the day before the grand opening. So Elli brought some treats to the event, which is what Elli does. It is Elli’s natural thing, to share with her friends. Little did she know she would be ordered to leave by a man who has no respect for anyone who dares to oppose his agenda!
But the Amazing thing was, nobody else who was there including, some Republican leaders, Larry Rhoden, and Dave Knudson said anything to Mr. A. They just stood there and did nothing to defuse the adelstein meltdown. And now they, including several others are just trying to shove this man’s horrendous conduct under the rug, hoping that he will not pull his fat check book out from under them.
Remember this behavior is from the same man who just had a big ad in our newspapers and got news mentions as the sponsor of the exhibit that is on display here in Rapid City thru August 13, 2008 called:
“A Blessing to one Another/ Pope John Paul II and The Jewish People.”
A quote from the ad:
The exhibition is important as a model of tolerance to all peple in today’s word, where much of the discord we see, globally and locally, is rooted in religious difference and conflict. “A Blessing to One Another” draws its name from the Pope’s 1993 appeal marking the 50th anniversay of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising: “As Christians and Jews, following the example of the faith of Abraham, we are called to be a blessing to the workd. This is the common task awaiting us. It is therefore necessary for us, Christians and Jews, to first be a blessing to one another”.
Apparently Mr. adelstein didn’t read this message.
So on Tuesday June 24th we are sure this discussion will continue. Hope to see there!
Wing Nut 7 over and out!
The questions for the week. Are you on the (A) list, (The Adelstein invitation list) to attend Republican events? And, What Happened to the Mainstreamer’s (Big Tent) theory where everyone is accepted and tolerated?

Larry Rhoden is a good man. I hope the reason for his inaction is the same that mine (unfortunately) might be in a similar situation: utter shock and disbelief that something so low might happen–in Republican HQ of all places.

Bob, I think you’re right. I’m inclined to give Larry the benefit of the doubt, simply because he has proven himself to be a good man over the years.
