In this week’s RC Weekly:
The tense political rivalry between Stan Adelstein and Elli Schwiesow flared during an open house at the new South Dakota West River Republican Campaign Headquarters on West Main Street last week.
Schwiesow was delivering a cake and, she said, good wishes to the headquarters on June 25 when Adelstein saw her and ordered her out of the building, which he owns.
“I was surprised (to see her),” Adelstein said Monday. “She was an independent candidate. The event was for Republican candidates from all over the Black Hills.
Adelstein, a former District 32 state senator, is running to recapture the seat. He is the Republican nominee.
Schwiesow, who defeated Adelstein in the 2006 GOP primary but lost to state Sen. Tom Katus in the general election, is running as an independent although she is still a registered Republican.
Schwiesow said she was surprised by Adelstein’s reaction. She said the new state GOP chairman had invited all Republicans to the victory party when he spoke to the Pennington County Republican Women the day before.
Pay particular attention to Adelstein’s reasoning in removing Elli (who took the high road, of course) from his building:
Schwiesow said she doesn’t want to turn the three-way race into an angry contest. What happened at the GOP headquarters has her puzzled and wondering if she can return there, she said.
“It’s a sad day when courtesy and common decency and respect don’t prevail,” Schwiesow said.
Adelstein said the headquarters is in space he owns that he shares with other Republican candidates at no charge. “It’s out of my pocket,” he said.
Methinks somebody needs to tell Adelkatus that the Republican Party is not for sale, no matter how much dough he throws at it.

Sounds like Stan thinks he IS the Republican Party. At least in his building, if not West River. Glad to see the media finally covering this. The public should learn just what kind of person Stan is. I was told the incident was witnessed by several Republican leadership people who said and did nothing. Sad.

I seldom oppose the Republican candidate in any race…but I do this one.
I hope the people of Dist. 32 have seen enough bad behavior out of Adelstein in the last two years to show HIM the door in this campaign.

Thank you and congratulations to GID for a great Wingnut Blog Site. There are now 3 blog sites worth checking out once in awhile: warcollege of course, Dakota voice, and now sdwingnuts.
As an accused founding father of the WingNuts, I find this blog only fitting. I truly believe we can wear our Wingnut label proudly, because Wingnut really does stand for something.
How low can the Republican leadership grovel for a few dirty dollars from a person who is truly evil?
Now two years ago, Rounds and his leadership hit the Wingnuts with the Big Tent theory that, (Oh, we are sensitive, our tent is big enough for everyone, and welcomed all with open arms). Now we have the Adelstein Republican Headquarters, and only those people who Adelstein decrees are acceptable can enter his building. You can bet if Napoli or Howie, Greenfield, Schmidt, or any other person Adelstein hates with a passion, we all would have been booted out too.
Remember, this is not the Pennington County Republican Headquarters. This is Stan Adelstein’s Headquarters with a few state workers thrown in.
I would suggest, we stick to our own Pennington County Headquarters and let the Main Streamers or the money grubbers hang with Stan.

So, If I go to Adelstein’s Headquarters with my Republican Registration Card and talk to him would it be easy to see how evil he is by being a Conservative? Or would I need to research Stans voting records?
Because I’m East River and I don’t follow Stan too much. But from reading the RCJ’s article it seems like Elli was bein’ a stinker. I’m not surprised by that - I’m just trying to figure this out for myself.

Smylie. It only takes a second to look at Stanleys record to see where he stands on the issues. Stan is an ultra left nutcase. THis a fact you can check. Eli is the most decent kind of person. She has dedicated the last 15 years of her life to the repub party. Remember this so called hdqts. was billed as the state party hdqts.also. Open to all so sayeth Jason Glodt. Except those hated by Adelstein.
